South Glos claims 'top marks' for its school's 2009 results.

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 2nd Apr 2010

Peter Tyzack says, 'We welcome the fact that South Gloucestershire Schools continue to improve, and its primary schools perform in the top 25% across the country, despite low funding from Government as compared to other authorities. Our secondary schools' results however are not satisfactory.'

Liberal Democrats congratulate teachers and pupils, 'these are phenomenal results when it is understood that schools nationally are working against the odds, with large classes and inadequate funding. Just think what might be achieved if we were to give them adequate resources!'

Peter adds, 'These two problems can and must be overcome by the next government if today's children are to reach their potential and help to make this country great again.'

Liberal Democrats will invest in education to reduce class sizes and provide funding for one-to-one tuition where needed to meet the needs of individual pupils.
