Standing up for South Gloucestershire

"No road - No new houses"

8.46.58pm GMT Thu 16th Nov 2006

Patchway Liberal Democrats stand fully behind local residents who insist that none of the new houses should be built on the new development of 2,500 homes on the Filton Northfield site until the new road has been built.

Local campaigner, Jan Woodley said "Patchway is already gridlocked by traffic going to and from The Mall, especially at peak travel times. We really must make sure that the new road to service the development is put in place before any new houses are built".

"I fully understand why local residents feel so strongly about this issue" said Ken Graupner (Patchway - Lib Dem). He added "Local residents have had to queue often for over an hour to get out of or into Patchway and they will be very angry if the gridlock gets worse when the new development begins".

Ken Dando (Patchway - Lib Dem) said "This weekend we will be delivering a leaflet to local residents letting them know about the Public Inquiry into the development plans. It starts at 10am at the County Cricket Club, Nevil Road, Ashley Down. I hope lots of local residents will turn up to make sure the Inquiry Inspector is left in no doubt about their views".
