Charity Walk to Westminster - Part 1 From Potholes to Parliament

In an attempt to take politics back to the people a Lib Dem parliamentary candidate will be walking the length of his prospective constituency. Peter Tyzack (PPC Filton & Bradley Stoke) will be taking to the streets on April 10th to help publicise the constituency once dubbed 'the mystery constituency'. He'll be raising money for Bristol's Haematology & Oncology Centre CaRE appeal along the way.
"Taking politics back to the people, that's my aim", says Peter Tyzack, Liberal Democrat PPC for 'Filton & Bradley Stoke' who will be walking the length of the new constituency on Saturday April 10th.
"It's been dubbed the 'mystery constituency' by the media, because people don't relate to the name given to the new constituency. We are finding residents who insist that they are not part of Filton or Bradley Stoke, so the intention of the walk is to draw attention to the extent of the constituency by walking from one end to the other. My hope is that the media will show a map to help the voters identify with the new area that they are part of. I hope to meet and talk with residents along the way."
He added, "As I have taken part in charity fund raising before it seemed obvious to make this into a charity event. I shall be raising funds for the Haematology and Oncology Centre at BRI. If I am successful in the election and become the first Member of Parliament for the new constituency then I shall walk the rest of the distance to Westminster over the summer, again collecting sponsorship."
He continued, "I believe politics has to get back in touch with people, and after the shameful way some MPs have behaved over their expenses, the public needs reassurance that they have some idea how the rest of us live. It is no good MPs sitting in their offices in Westminster, they have to go to the people and walk in their shoes. MPs are elected by the people; they need to show that they will work for the people."
