Books, DVD's and fast internet needed for new library extension
Members of the public and local councillors were outside the Bradley Stoke library last Friday morning welcoming the investment and highlighting the role that libraries can play for families.
Former teacher Peter Tyzack says, "Having been a single parent I understand what a lifeline a library can be. Extending and improving the children's area is an essential part of enabling parents with young families to use their local library. As well as encouraging young people and providing them valuable learning opportunities it could help parents make more of their time so the experience is an enjoyable one for all."
Local councillor Jon Williams says, "I am really pleased that campaigning for investment in the buildings of the libraries has paid off. But now we must make sure there is enough funding to provide the contents, the books, the DVDs and the broadband Internet access that is so badly needed in Bradley Stoke."
Local parent Sachin Singhal says, "Anything that can make it easier and more enjoyable for a parent to take their children to the library is welcomed. We all want the best for our children and it's really important to encourage learning outside of school so that young people think of it as fun not as a chore."
