TORIES PART OF THE PROBLEM - NOT THE SOLUTION

David Cameron likes to paint himself as a moderniser who is in tune with Britain and yet with a massive crisis in both our banking system and Parliamentary democracy he has blocked meaningful reform.

The very same people who helped bring our financial system close to bankruptcy are now 'bank-rolling' David Cameron's Conservative party with massive donations. According to a report in the Sunday Telegraph (28/6/09) even a Hedge Fund that made millions from betting on the demise of British Banks has given the Conservatives £50,000.

Following public anger over MPs expenses the Lib Dems proposed that a group of electors could 'recall' their MP and demand a by-election. After all David Cameron's rhetoric over this issue, his Party failed to support our proposal.

Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman John Kiely adds "The Tories are happy to take money from Bankers who have made millions from betting on the misery of ordinary people, many who are struggling to pay their mortgages or even worse have lost their homes. Others are on short time working or have been made redundant, but for Cameron's Conservatives its business as usual with their City backers. Thats why so many local people are looking afresh at the Liberal Democrats, the Palace of Westminster has served the other two parties well, but its about time it started serving the people better."
