Filton and Bradley Stoke Parliamentary Spokesman John Kiely welcomed the new Party President Baroness Ros Scott to the Constituency on Saturday 31st Jan 2009. Baroness Scott was on a tour of the most winnable Constituencies in the West Country and called in to see party activists at the Trust Hall in Stoke Gifford last Saturday night.

She told the meeting that voters were turning away from Labour and were not sure about the Conservatives, so were looking afresh at us as viable alternative. She described Vince Cable as a 'National Treasure' and felt that other members of our parliamentary team would also inspire the public and show that we had a range of policies to address the serious issues now facing the Country.

John Kiely added "Whether it be civil liberties at home or abroad, climate change or the credit crisis it is only the Liberal Democrats that have proposed answers. Labour have followed Tory policies whilst being in office, which has seen our rights eroded, illegal wars and a deregulated financial market which has left many ordinary people jobless and in some cases homeless, its time for a different party with a fresh approach."
