There is no doubt that the Aztec roundabout is the most heavily used in our area; so any plans to alter it would surely merit a major consultation exercise. Not according to the Highways dept at Conservative led South Glos Council who believe a 'yellow' sign on the roundabout is sufficient.

The scheme which includes widening the bus lanes between Woodlands and Aztec business parks. An extra car lane along Bradley Stoke way to Woodlands Lane and also a north/south car lane across the roundabout. The proposal includes banning the right turn from Bradley Stoke Way into Woodlands Lane. Cllr Ronnie Conway-Haskins is surprised that such an important proposal has not been fully discussed by the Town Council.

Cllr Conway-Haskins adds 'I think that the Council's Conservative Leadership has been diverted from looking after the wider interests of the Town in recent months and have let this slip by them.'

John Kiely Parliamentary spokesman adds 'Some local residents have told me that apart from a sign on the roundabout the Council have not been in touch to ask affected residents their views, I would have expected a mail drop to residents as well as static exhibition somewhere locally with maps and a place to add local comment and suggestions.' One wonders if they really want local involvement or opinion at all?'

What do you think?

Please let us know and we will pass your views to the highways dept.
